Power of the Muscadine

The Muscadine grape is native to North Carolina and is the official state fruit.

Packed with antioxidants, its seed has been shown to offer the highest oxygen radical-absorbing capacity among natural substances tested -- at levels more than 100 times higher than that of other fruits. Its intense resveratrol content, thought to ward off such diseases as cancer, adds to the muscadine's value. 

90% of the medicinal value of Muscadines are found in the skin and seeds.

Muscadines have unique phytochemical profiles and an extra chromosome with genes that may bear the responsibility for a broader range of nutraceutical potential.  This fact has brought many to refer to Muscadines as the "smarter grape."
